ttl-About Us

What is My Schools Out? is an online information service provided by My Schools Out Ltd, an independent company based in London.

The company was founded in August 2011 by three people who share a passionate interest in helping parents access childcare and other support for their children. We have all worked in this field for over ten years and our experience includes:

  • Running playschemes and adventure playgrounds
  • Managing Family Information Services
  • Supporting providers to improve their services to families

In our various professional roles we often talk to parents about the issues they face. For many, the biggest challenge has always been finding somewhere for their children to go during the school holidays. We decided we would use our skills and experience to try to help.

We know that often, having the right information can make a big difference. Many parents tell us that they simply don’t know what’s available, so we decided to create a website that tackles this problem.

We have designed the site so that you can search for provision in a number of ways, to quickly find the schemes and activities that suit your particular needs.
Currently this service is only available in Greater London, but we plan to expand it across England in the near future.

What types of information are included?

We only provide details of provision that children can attend during the school holidays without their parents being present.

This includes:

  • Holiday playschemes. These are sometimes known as kids clubs, or camps (although we don’t provide information about residential trips).
  • Activity clubs and classes that focus on a specific topic, such as football camps or ‘summer university’ courses.
  • Adventure playgrounds: staffed and supervised open access play spaces.

(For more information about these types of provision visit our help with choosing page)

Provision must be at least two hours in duration to be included.

We aim to include details of all eligible provision in London. If you know of a playscheme, club or activity that meets our criteria but is not listed, please let us know so that we can include it.

Is there any cost?

Our information is provided free of charge to the public. We do not charge providers to be included in our listings.

How old do my children have to be?

We list provision that caters for children from 3 to 16 years old. This includes clubs and schemes that cater for various different age groups within this range.

While our age range goes up to 16, providers must be open to children aged 12 or under.

Why register as a member?

By registering as a member of My Schools Out you will be able to save your favourites searches. This means that every time you log in you can run the search again. For example, each term when the school holidays are approaching you can check what schemes and clubs are going to be available in your area that meet your specific needs.

As a member you can also opt to receive regular email bulletins from My Schools Out. These will include news about holiday schemes and activities, and other information that might be of interest or help to you.

How does My Schools Out get its information?

We work closely with the providers who run the playschemes, clubs and activities. We regularly communicate with them to make sure that the information we display is accurate and up-to-date.

We review and update our information on an ongoing basis. If you spot a mistake or inaccuracy please let us know through our contact page. We aim to correct any inaccuracies in our information within 24 hours.

How is the service funded?

Our service is funded from the revenue we make through selling advertising space on the website. We work with advertisers that offer products and services that will be of interest to families, and who share our ethics and values. Some of the advertisements are locally targeted, so that they will appear when you search in a certain geographical area.
